When you write, please tell us your phone model, Android version and what you expected to happen. Don't send passwords or card details. We never need them.

Setting up

1. Choose one app. Pick the app that pulls you in most. You can change it later. The free plan shields one app.
2. Allow protection. Offling asks for Usage access and Display over other apps. Notifications are optional. Nothing is asked until you tap Allow.
3. Your first break. Start the 5-minute starter session. When it ends, the break minutes are yours to use in the shielded app.

If the shield doesn't appear (Android)

If the shield does not appear, or the break time does not count down, check these in order.

1. Usage access. Offling uses it only to know which app is in front. Open Android Settings, search for "Usage access", choose Offling and turn it on.
2. Display over other apps. Needed to show the shield. Open Settings, search for "Display over other apps" (sometimes "Appear on top"), choose Offling and allow it.
3. Battery: not "Restricted". Open Settings, Apps, Offling, Battery, and make sure it is not set to "Restricted". Phones that stop background apps can stop the timer and the shield.
4. HONOR and Huawei: App launch. Open Settings, Battery, App launch, find Offling and switch it to "Manage manually". Then allow auto-launch, secondary launch and run in background. Offling's own Settings has an "Auto-launch (Honor)" shortcut to this page.

Settings names vary by manufacturer and Android version. If you can't find an item, use the search box in Settings. If you force-stop Offling, protection pauses until you open it again.

How to turn restrictions off

Open Offling, go to Settings and turn restrictions off. It is always free. The shield stops appearing for that app. You can turn it back on later.

Sessions and breaks

• A finished focus session earns break minutes. A cancelled session earns nothing.
• Break minutes only count down while you are in the shielded app.
• When they run out, the shield comes back.
• If you end a break early, the unused minutes go back into your break bank.

How to uninstall

Turn restrictions off first if you like, then uninstall Offling like any other app (Android: touch and hold the app icon, then Uninstall; or Settings, Apps, Offling, Uninstall). You can also revoke Usage access and Display over other apps in Settings.

Subscriptions

Premium is planned and not on sale. When it launches, subscriptions will be bought and managed in your store account (Google Play or Apple App Store), including cancelling and refunds. Cancelling in the store stops future renewals. Deleting the app does not cancel a subscription.

Data deletion

• On your phone: "Start over" in Settings clears everything Offling stores on the phone. Uninstalling the app removes it too.
• Analytics: usage events carry only a random install ID, not your name or email. To ask us to delete events linked to your install, email support@getoffling.com and we'll reply with the steps.
• Purchases: purchase records are held by the store and RevenueCat once Premium exists. Ask us by email if you need help with these too.

Limits to know about

Offling works within what the phone's system allows. Force stop, picture-in-picture windows and manufacturer battery rules can limit the shield. The full list is under What Offling can't do, and the Terms say the same.
